FilipinaWanderer invites you to explore a more compassionate understanding of weight and wellness, moving away from harmful comparisons. Let’s foster positive thinking and create an inclusive conversation about health.
Poverty is the best way to lose the weight.
As we grow and evolve, our understanding of health and wellness deepens. There was a time in my life when I viewed weight through a very narrow lens, fueled by societal pressures and the specter of comparison. I found myself, as many young individuals do, in the perplexing conundrum of trying to eat less while friends could seemingly indulge with impunity.
Looking back, I can see the flaws in this perspective and the need to shift the narrative towards a more empathetic understanding of health. The notion of fairness in terms of body weight is a misleading construct, feeding off comparisons that can be as harmful as they are unproductive.

Everyone’s body is unique, with different metabolisms, nutritional needs, and responses to food intake. Some can eat abundantly and stay thin, while others may put on weight more easily. These individual differences don’t reflect fairness or lack thereof but rather the diversity of human bodies.
More importantly, the association of thinness with happiness and success, ingrained in society, overlooks the complexities of wellness. Good health extends beyond weight and encompasses mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
As we shift from comparison to compassion, we encourage a more inclusive conversation about wellness—one that appreciates diversity and emphasizes health over appearance. It’s a challenging but rewarding journey, requiring us to unlearn old misconceptions and foster positive thinking.
